The U.S. election 2020 was a great relief.
The morning of Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, was a big day. A big day to express our right to vote for the US president. This was the first time in my life to vote. I became a US citizen in 2017 when Trump was presiding over the country with his ego, arrogance, and self-love. A man who was a great businessman but illiterate, ignorant, and uneducated. A selfish man who has more love for power and money than any other thing in the world. On that day I decided to use my right to vote for some who can help the world survive in a better way, one who can implement rules and regulations with love, and one who is more appreciative and knowledgeable. On the day of the election, I visited the polling station early in the morning. The whole process was very expeditious and quick. But unlike the previous same-day election results, everything was delayed and setback, due to COVID 19. The mail-in-vote option was much helpful to avoid the big crowd. The deadline for voting was by 8 PM on the same day. It was a very close and intense competition that took around three additional days for counting all the votes and results finalized. Nothing was clear until the last moment. After three days of continuous counting and battling in different states, the astounding results were announced, on Saturday, November 7th. Mr. Joe Biden was our next elected president. It was a great reassurance, comfort, and relief. Though I never had any direct effect from Trump’s administration, I felt like a prisoner freed after long-term imprisonment, restrictions, and captivity or as someone had taken off immense weight from our shoulders. I felt that now I can relax, breathe a sigh of relief, and calm down. We hope and pray that our newly elected president comes up to our expectations.
